Field Fund Residency: Aims and Objectives

Objectives of the Residency programme

• For pupils to gain an understanding of the diversity of contemporary art.

• To introduce pupils to methodologies they can employ when looking at artworks and to gain confidence in their own personal interpretations of art.

• To give pupils the opportunity to produce their own artworks and to make valued judgements about their own decision making process whilst engaged in making artwork.

• To give pupils taking part in the residency the opportunity to share what they have learned with other pupils (by a cascading of knowledge and skills).

• To give Year 8 and Year 10 pupils not taking part directly in the residency the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge about contemporary arts practice, from the cascading of knowledge and skills, by pupils working directly with the artists in residence.

• For pupils to gain basic practical skills in photography (digital photo-manipulation) and video editing.

• To give teachers the opportunity to advance their own knowledge and understanding of contemporary art.
